Role Overview

We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Data Analyst to support a major data modernization initiative for a high-volume, workflow-driven legal services organization. The ideal candidate will play a key role in analyzing fragmented data sources, evaluating current data maturity, supporting the development of a modern data architecture, and enabling AI‑driven insights and automation.

This role is perfect for someone who excels at turning complex, messy data into structured findings, insights, and recommendations — and who is comfortable working across operational workflows, structured/unstructured data, and evolving data systems.

Key Responsibilities

Data Discovery & Current-State Assessment

  • Map and document data sources across SQL databases, flat files, emails, workflow metadata, and case management systems. Analyze existing data flows, reporting processes, and pain points across teams. Evaluate data quality, consistency, duplication, lineage, and gaps.

Data Maturity & Architecture Assessment

  • Participate in scoring maturity across governance, quality, integration, architecture, and analytics capabilities. Identify limitations caused by technical debt and recommend areas for modernization. Support benchmarking against industry best practices.

Operational & Financial Insights

  • Analyze operational, cost, and workflow data to surface trends and performance indicators. Build insights that support leadership decision-making and product strategy. Help identify productivity bottlenecks and inefficiencies.

AI & Analytics Readiness Support

  • Assess data availability, cleanliness, and structure for AI/ML use cases such as document intelligence and workflow optimization. Identify risks, missing data, or governance constraints that limit AI adoption.

Use Case Evaluation & Prioritization

  • Collect and evaluate use cases from business, product, and operations teams. Analyze feasibility, data readiness, business value, and technical complexity. Support recommendations for MVP scope and future phases.

Reporting, Visualization & Documentation

  • Create dashboards, analyses, and reports that summarize insights for technical and non-technical audiences. Translate findings into actionable recommendations. Maintain documentation for data definitions, processes, and analysis workflows.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Work with product, engineering, operations, and leadership to align on data needs and strategic priorities. Support knowledge transfer to ensure teams can adopt and scale data capabilities.

Skills and qualifications

Required

  • 3–5+ years of experience as a Data Analyst or similar role
  • Strong SQL skills and experience querying large, complex datasets
  • Proficiency with data analysis tools (Python, R, or similar)
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
  • Ability to work with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data
  • Strong documentation skills and comfort mapping data flows and processes
  • Experience analyzing operational workflows or transactional systems
  • Excellent communication skills for stakeholder-facing interactions

Preferred:

  • Experience working in legal services, financial services, or workflow-heavy operations environments
  • Exposure to data governance, data quality frameworks, or metadata management
  • Understanding of AI/ML concepts (no model-building required)
  • Experience contributing to data modernization or cloud-migration initiatives
  • Familiarity with modern data stacks (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Airflow)

What Success Looks like

  • Clear documentation of client’s current data landscape and quality
  • Insightful analyses that uncover operational or workflow opportunities
  • Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams
  • Contributions that inform the data strategy, target-state architecture, and AI enablement roadmap
  • High-quality deliverables that support executive-level decision-making
